Oldenburger Otaku Treff 2015-Oldenburg, Germany

This article is submitted by Lisa and Sasha (Pashy Cosplay).

It’s this time of the year again. The snow melts, it’s getting warmer outside and all of us are preparing our next cosplays. Of course we were really happy, when they announced the next date for OOT-Oldenburger Otaku Treff.

station

As cosplayers, there is nothing more comfortable as a local cosplay meet-up. You don’t have to travel very long or prepare a hotel room and don’t have to worry about getting home too late for work or school the next day. And that’s all what the “OOT” stands for: you can meet and get to know people from all over the city and neighboring towns, sit together, draw in each other’s “Con-Hons” (Small Books you hand over to your friends so they can create drawings and texts as memories of the day for you) and do photoshoots.

The monthly meet-up just announced in February the end of their winter break and the beginning of Oldenburg’s colorful cosplay year 2015 started on the 21. March for us!

OOT’s usually start with us cosplayers meeting on a Saturday, 01:00 pm at the station in Oldenburg. We’re usually around 200, half of us in cosplays or kigurumis, but also fans of the Japanese fashion, music or culture are welcome as well as everyone who is interested. After waiting for 30 minutes, all of us walk together to the local park (Schlossgarten Oldenburg). Even after doing this for long over a year – people always give us funny looks. We never get insulted though. On the contrary, the people of Oldenburg are always happy to see us and never stop giving us compliments for our costumes and wish us a great day.

This month we were surprised by the bad weather. It was 7°C (44.6°F) and the rain would only stop for short periods. But, as you guys know, cosplayers are tough! So we kept going and did our photoshoot anyway – even if we didn’t manage to take as many pictures as we wanted. Since our cameras are not waterproof, we had to stop after some time.

How to Make Rose Quartz Cosplay Crystal Gem

Rose_QuartzPNG_NewsHiya everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile >.< forgive me please? School has been a lot these past few weeks, but that should be no excuse! However, now I have everything settled and I can do more for all of you 😀 yaaaaaay! Anyways, today I’m going to do a tutorial on ‘Rose Quartz‘ star gem from Steven Universe. If many of you do not know ‘Rose Quartz’ She is the mother of the main character Steven in the show ‘Steven Universe’ and also the former leader of the Crystal Gems who protect earth and other worlds from evil and corruption. If you haven’t watched the show Steven Universe I highly ,( and I emphasize highly) recommend watching it and also exploring many of the other Crystal gems that are great for Cosplaying! I chose Rose Quartz because when she was first introduced  I was immediately captivated by her beauty and I love her background story on how she came to earth and how it led to Steven being who he is today 🙂

Now, before we can get started here is what you’ll need!:

  • Heat Gun
  • Craft Foam (Red, Yellow, Pink if you choose to not paint)
  • Paper
  • Marker
  • Hot glue Gun
  • Paint ( Preferably red, yellow and pink)

Welcome Our New Blog Author-Neko

Hello everyone, I’m Nekomancer but I usually just go by Neko. I am a new blogger here and I wanted to let you know more about me. I am a Cosplayer and Commissioner who specializes in wigs. I have only been Cosplaying since 2013 but before that I was in charge of costuming in theatre and set production so it wasn’t so much of a stretch when I started Cosplaying. I am in college to major in Graphic Design. My favourite anime series are Gurren Lagann, Chobits, Elfen Lied, Bleach, and Baka no Test. My favourite games are The legend of Zelda series, Assassins creed, Kingdom Hearts, and Pokemon. In my free time I enjoy writing reviews, tutorials or talking to fellow cosplayers about cosplays or giving advice for how to make things. Cosplay has been for me a way to express my creativity and love for Characters in a positive way. I love to share my experiences or knowledge with people in hopes that it helps them. So I hope all of you enjoy my blogs!
