Comments about the tutorial: My tutorial is on Ranka Lee form Macross Frontier, I really wanted to be accurate to how the art was drawn to a 3D application. I have given tips on how to look better for cameras, since cameras can saturate make-up colours as I’ve learned the hard way. I’ve also shared a few tips I’ve picked up on wigs, eye shadow application and also the products I use which I really love ! They give me the best outcomes without me having to burn a whole in my wallet to pay for them 😛 Hope everyone likes my tutorial and was able to take something form it to apply to your own cosplays :3

Cosplayer Interview – Mei-Hoshi

Yuna Cosplay

I will never forget the graceful Macross Frontier Ranka Lee cosplay done by Mei-Hoshi. This American girl shows so many pictures on her Deviantart site that make us dazzling. Except Ranka Lee cosplay, she also does well in many Final Fantasy cosplay themes. Yuna cosplay by her definitely draws most attention. This cosplay talent accepts our interview today. For more information about her, just spend minutes in browsing below content now.

1. Please introduce yourself first.

My name is Mei Hoshi and I am a cosplayer residing in the US.

2. What does cosplay mean to you?

Cosplay to me is a form of self expression. I’ve always loved anime and was very creative when I was younger so cosplay really ties those two things together. It’s such a great satisfaction for me when I finish my costume and I know that I made something like that with my own two hands. Being able to bring life to my favorite characters is also a fantastic feeling.

3. What and when was your first cosplay?

My first costume was Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho, one of his fightning outfits from the Dark Tournament, and I wore it the summer of 2010 at AnimeNEXT.

4. What is your most memorable cosplay experience?

Hmm.. That’s a difficult one haha. I think any event where I meet great friends is pretty memorable.

5. What’s your favorite photo shoot?

I have a few favorites, one of the more recent ones is probably the Ranka x Sheryl shoot I did with my sis Euphoria. It was the first time for us to shoot together so it was a lot of fun!

6. What’s your favorite anime/manga/game character to cosplay as?

Yuna from Final Fantasy X. Hers was the first cosplay I made that I didn’t need additional help from, and I absolutely love her character.

7. Any cosplay plan in future?

Yes! The ones for THIS year include Alisa Bosconovitch from Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, Kneesocks from Panty&Stocking, Serah Farron from Final Fantasy XIII-2, Umi Ryuuzaki from Magic Knight Rayearth, and Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII.

8. Do you make your costumes yourself or buy them?

I make my own costumes, although my mom helps me on occasion.

9. Any other cosplayers you like?

There are definitely a lot! I could literally name you at least 50 haha, but to name a few that have deviantart: x-divine-euphoria-x, yangsayejue, astellecia, yuegene, and many many more.

10. Do some changes happen to you after cosplay?

Do some changes happen to you after cosplay?

11. Any advice you wanna share with cosplay newbies?

Don’t feel discouraged if you see better cosplayers. I have a few friends like that, but practice makes perfect, and cosplay is about portraying your favorite character, so just have fun with it.
