When you plan to cosplay a character and buy the wig, do not be surprised that the wig is not that identical as the character and you can not just put it on. How to style the wig becomes a common question for cosplay fans. Therefore, today we will focus on styling wigs especially for characters with spiky hair such as Roxas from Kingdom Hearts or Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy. We will take Roxas wig as an example in this tutorial.
Materials:
- Hair wax
- Hair spray
- Scissors
- Roxas photos and you hands!
With all the above prepared, put the wig onto the dummy head first.
Part the hair at the top in proportions of eighty and twenty percent. While divide the bang thirty and seventy.
Next, style the top part. Divide the hair in wisps by hand. Cut off the overlong and apply some spray to get it stayed in shape.
To hold them up better or looks more blocky, you can also smear some wax to the roots.
Repeat the process to make the spike. Pay attention to the hair wisp thickness and locations. Do some trim accordingly and spray again.
Style the side face. Get the hair of this area trimmed to the appropriate length first and spray a little. Before the spray drys, exert the hand freely to make spikes. 
We will move to style the back of the head. Trim a little first. Spray and use hand to help the hair stand in wisps. Cut again properly and apply some spray again to keep the hair spike shaped. 
Last step is to style the bang. The length and width of the bang depends on cosplayer’s feature, so the trim on the dummy head does not mean the completion. After done with the initial trim, put the wig on and trim the bang according to yourself. And do not forget the sideburns part.
