Q: How did you know this contest? Is it easy to join in or do you have any advice for it? Since there will be many other contests held here, which theme do you most expect to see later?

I learned about it via you and I showed it to Andy and the next theme I expect will be Easter or Spring.

Q: What’s your favorite cosplay theme? And what’s your best cosplay performance?

Personally I hate themes I think my best performance was my Miku Hatsune costume and Andy’s best preformance was his Grell costume.

Q: What do you think about cosplay? Share us something good and bad on this performance art in your opinion.

We love cosplay and everything about it. The only complaint I think either of us have is how uncomfortable some costume pieces can be.

Q: We will be interested in knowing some difficulties you met while cosplay. And how did you overcome them?

With this particular shoot, I found out last minuet that Andy didn’t have a photographer. I went up to where our cosplay group hangs out and asked the one person there if she would be a photographer. She said no so I went down to the library where I had a friend and one of his friends. They both said no then I realized that one of my friends was in the area by the main school entrance and when I asked him he accepted but when we got back to where we did the photo shoot, Andy wasn’t there so we went back up to the cosplay group area and asked the one person there if she saw Andy. She replied that Andy was in the cafeteria so we went down and we picked Andy up.

Justin is 24, and I am 20. We have known eachother for about two years, and we have been together for a little over one. We love to spend time together, and both really LOVE to dress up in costumes. So we definately enjoy cosplaying, but we usually can’t afford to get costumes. : (  I know he wants to do more, since we have only done it once, so when I found this contest I was sooo excited! I just love to make him happy, so I really hope we win this and we can do more stuff we enjoy together. ^-^

Q: How did you know this contest? Is it easy to join in or do you have any advice for it? Since there will be many other contests held here, which theme do you most expect to see later?

I accidently came across it i think.
Yes, it was very easy to join ^-^ Everything about it was simple enough anyway ha.
I would expect to see a theme for just about all the holidays, like for christmas, take some in the snow, or with christmasy type backgrounds and such.

Q: What’s your favorite cosplay theme? And what’s your best cosplay performance?

I don’t really have a favorite theme, and due to…funding issues I have only dressed up once. So my best/only performance was cosplaying Sailor mars, with my boyfriend as Tuxedo Mask.

Q: What do you think about cosplay? Share us something good and bad on this performance art in your opinion.

I LOVE it. Seeing so many people come together to show off their skills in making costumes, or just to share their same interest in dressing up is soooooo fun!! Its a great way to make new friends and get out there and meet new people. On a down side, it does cost a bit too much to either buy or make your costume, which sometimes discourages people from participating. 🙁

Q: We will be interested in knowing some difficulties you met while cosplay. And how did you overcome them?

I ordered a costume online by using their measuring chart, which I followed exactly, and when I got it it was about 2-3 sizes too large. : ( I tried to get it exchanged but all they said they could do was give me money back and let me order a new one. I didn’t have the time to do that, so I had to get the one I had taken apart and remade to fit me. Something good that came of that, is with the extra material I was able to create some pieces we were missing for the tuxedo mask costume : )

Amy and I have been together for a year and 6 months, and we love doing couples’ cosplay! We live in Colorado in the United States, and both go to college here. Amy is a graphic artist, and I am a Japanese and History major. Our couples cosplays include Axel and Roxas from Kingdom Hearts, Rin Sohma and Hatsuharu Sohma from Fruits Basket, Kurogane and Fai D. Flourite from Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Riza Hakweye and Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Lily Evans and Severus Snape from Harry Potter, Alice Cullen and Jasper Hale from Twilight, and our in-progress costumes include Sanada Yukimura and Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara, Azula and Zuko from The Last Airbender, and Temari and Shikamaru Nara from Naruto.

Comments from the Cosplayers: Axel and Roxas from Kingdom Hearts were our first cosplays together. In fact, I met Amy because I was looking online for an Organization XIII Cloak for Roxas. We have many different versions of them, all of which can be found on our DeviantArt pages.

Comments from the Cosplayers: Kurogane and Fai D. Flourite were our summer projects for our local convention in September. Both of our costumes took so much work, including the props! My coat and staff took some long hours, and Amy had to attach lots of red to her outfit, as well as make her sword. We have one video up for them on youtube.

Comments from the Cosplayers: Fullmetal Alchemist was what got me into anime, so I was really excited to get the chance to cosplay from it with Amy. Amy likes Mustang because she loves people who have a fire affinity (Axel, Zuko, Roy). I like Riza because she’s just a badass.

Comments from the Cosplayers: Amy wanted to do these two for the last two Harry Potter premieres, so even though I didn’t have any strong preference for Lily I ended up getting the costume together. However, since watching the movies and re-reading the portions of the Harry Potter series with them in it, I’ve come to love this couple as well. We have 3 videos for them up on youtube.

Comments from the Cosplayers: Rin Sohma was always my favorite character from Fruits Basket, so when we decided to join a group I chose to be her. Amy had wanted to be Kyo, but she decided that for the group she would be in a couple with me, as Hatsuharu Sohma. I think she pulls him off really well, it’s on of my favorite costumes of hers.

I saw someone on deviantArt who I watch enter it.

Q: What’s your favorite cosplay theme? And what’s your best cosplay performance?

Pretty dresses, Temari from Naruto is the only onstage performance I’ve given.

Q: What do you think about cosplay? Share us something good and bad on this performance art in your opinion.

The good is that it’s very fulfilling, and super cool. The bad is all of the time and money it takes to make it perfect.

Q: We will be interested in knowing some difficulties you met while cosplay. And how did you overcome them?

Learning how to make costumes was the hardest part, especially props (I already knew how to sew, basically). I got help from many online sources and from friends who had previous experience.

Both of us have been cosplaying since 2007. We met at a photoshoot and have been best friends ever since. Cosplaying holds a special place for both of us for different reasons. Kuri: Well, she is a lot of fun to cosplay with and we both understand and feel for the cosplay as well as the pictures. I have been cosplaying for a long time and Alexis just started but it helps. We learn from each other. We try our best to bring the character to life, as well as being ourselves.

Alexis: Its always so much fun taking pictures together either in or out of cosplay, and I’ve been trying my hardest to make her proud.

Q: How did you know this contest? Is it easy to join in or do you have any advice for it? Since there will be many other contests held here, which theme do you most expect to see later?

A:
Alexis: From Kuri. Sure? I’m not really sure, but anything will do.
Kuri: A friend on my facebook linked me to it. Easy to join in? Honestly, half and half. Its easy to place a submit, but not easy to have a perfect picture and or one you think will win. Um..themes I would like to see in the future would probably be Yuri themed. Along with emotional expressive themes with cosplay.

Q: What’s your favorite cosplay theme? And what’s your best cosplay performance?

A:
Alexis: I like cosplaying darker haird character and demon like themes. Sebastian from kuroshitsuji
Kuri: Favorite cosplay theme is probably couples. Its always fun to cosplay with my partner. I think my best cosplay would be Miku Hatsune. I love doing her makeup and face it, I love her pigtails.

Q: What do you think about cosplay? Share us something good and bad on this performance art in your opinion.

A:
Alexis: I love getting dressed up and expressing myself in different characters. I gained experience over the past couple of years and I am really proud of myself. It is fun and meet new friends.
Kuri: I think its a great way to experience the world and everyone in it. Its fun to be someone else for a change and meet new people with the same interests. Well, the bad thing about cosplay is money. It is a very expensive hobbie. Also, there will be lots of other people cosplaying the same person as yourself, so there tends to be a lot of judging when it comes to ‘the perfect cosplayer’ and or ‘perfect person’. The good thing about cosplay is that you gain experience points along with new and even maybe best friends. Along with boosting your self esteem.

Q: We will be interested in knowing some difficulties you met while cosplay. And how did you overcome them?

A:
Alexis: CONTACTS! A friend helped me out all the way through and I am happy she did.
Kuri: Some difficulties I met was working the sewing machine. It always seems to break and or malfunction on me and it gets annoying sometimes. Also, trying to find the right fabric and or knowing that the fabric you want is out of stock. Many other things. Well I asked a lot of people and friends, went on forums, made phone calls, just trying to see what everyone else thought, because most of the time, they are usually the right way to go.
